Player Code Of Conduct
SportUP is a social sports club, not a competitive league. This code applies to every player, every week, and it is how we keep game nights fun for everyone.
The 2 Strike system
- Strike 1: if your team, or an individual on it, is reported, your team receives an official warning.
- Strike 2: a second official warning removes your team from the current season and from all future SportUP competitions, with no refund.
Behaviours that are not accepted
- Negative attitudes: complaining about calls, teammates or the game.
- Aggressive play: elbowing, pushing, reckless fouls or contact that makes others feel unsafe.
- Lack of respect: talking down to teammates, opponents or referees, or belittling others for mistakes.
- Trash talk: taunting, stirring conflict or making the night feel hostile.
- Refusing to compromise: insisting on your preferred position or style over what makes the game enjoyable for the team.
- Arguing with referees: constantly disputing decisions. Play the whistle.
- Focusing solely on winning: winning at all costs creates stress for everyone, including your own team.
- Poor sportsmanship: tantrums, sulking or rubbing it in, whether you won or lost.
- Swearing: not acceptable on the court, on the sidelines or towards any player or referee.
- Physical violence: any form, including hitting, pushing, kicking or threatening behaviour. Immediate removal from the venue and a ban.
SportUP reserves the right to remove any player or team from a game, competition or season for breaching this code.
